EFCC To Rehabilitate ‘Yahoo Boys’ Convicted In Nigeria
Category: Cyber-Crime News
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to rehabilitate
Nigerians prosecuted for internet fraud.
The programme targets
youths that have been convicted for “yahoo yahoo” related offences.
EFCC Chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa gave the hint during a meeting
with Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre officials.
CLTC Director-General Soji Eniade led the delegation to the EFCC headquarters
in Abuja.
The anti-graft chief disclosed he was concerned about the
future of young Nigerians.
“I do not derive joy in the arrest,
investigation and prosecution of thousands of youths in productive ages, but
the job must be done.”
Bawa stated that the system must be
concertedly cleansed of all forms of economic and financial crimes.
The
rehabilitation will involve psychological approaches to morality and cognitive
sanity, literacy skills and work training.
The goal, the EFCC
chairman added, is to reintegrate offenders back into society after their jail
term.
