Passengers Stranded At Lagos Airport Over Unions’ Protest

There was confusion at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2 ) Ikeja , Lagos after aviation unions blocked access into the terminal.

The development created confusion, forcing passengers rushing for morning flights to be stranded.

The unions Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSSAN) and its affiliates are protesting the sack of 34 of its members by Bi- Courteney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), managers of of the MMA2.

As early as 5.30 am union members mobilised to erect a barricade on the road leading to the terminal.

The unions said the company breached procedure in sacking the workers despite ongoing negotiation to find amicable ways of handling the impasse between the workers and the company’s management.

Airlines operating from the terminal later called on the feuding parties to find amicable ways of resolving the crisis.
