Jesus' Mission on Earth (Matthew 3:11)
Category: City Pastor's Teachings
Mission is the purpose or the most important aim of a person or an
organization.
The mission of Jesus Christ on earth is summarized in Matthew 3:11-12 where
John the Baptist was baptizing new converts.
John told the people, “I baptize with water those who repent of their sins and
turn to God. But someone is coming (Jesus Christ) who is coming soon who is
greater than I am- so much greater that I’m not worthy even to be his slave
and carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire”
Matthew 3: 11 (NLT)

Therefore Jesus’ first mission on earth is to baptize us with the Holy Spirit
and Fire.
All Christians therefore must be filled with the Holy Spirit.
His second mission is to separate the good from the bad. Those who hitherto
have been confused about what is right and what is wrong will now know the
truth, because, Jesus’ mission is to separate good from bad.

That is why most of his teachings throughout his stay on earth was done using
illustrations showing examples of what is “good” and what is “bad”
Matthew 3:12 says, “He is ready to separate the chaff from the wheat with his
winnowing fork. Then he will clean up the threshing area, gathering the wheat
into his barn but burning the chaff with never-ending fire”
Praise God
