Nurse Dies After Trying To Perform Liposuction On Herself

She was found in a doctor’s office in Cuernavaca, Morelos State, Mexico after trying to perform liposuction on her own belly, reports say.

She eventually died from cardio-respiratory arrest.

In a bid to save her, a co-worker called the emergency services and attempted to revive her at the scene, but they were unsuccessful.

She died by the time she arrived at a medical clinic.

The incident took place in Clinica Samper when the nurse allegedly carried out the cosmetic procedure on herself after taking advantage of the absence of her bosses.

Dr Samper Mendoza said he was attending a conference for the Mexican Association of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery in Guadalajara at the time.

Dr Samper Mendoza said: “I was informed that one of my nurses named Carina, without my authorization or permission, with an abuse of trust, decided on her own to perform abdominal liposuction with local anesthetic.

“And worse, not even in the operating theater, but in a doctor’s office.

“The result of this incomprehensible action was that she died as a result of the massive absorption of anesthetic that she administered herself.”

Dr Samper Mendoza, an advocate for better regulation of cosmetic surgery in Mexico -said he would assist the authorities with their investigation.

Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure in which unwanted fat is removed from the body.
