Two DisCo Staff Electrocuted In Lagos

Two ad hoc staff of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) were on Saturday electrocuted while digging up a faulty cable on Lagos Island.
One of the deceased, a 51-year-old Nigerien, identified as simply as Umaru, got electrocuted while digging the ground to locate a faulty transformer cable at the P&T area of Obalende.
It was learnt that the second victim, Sunday Awaruwa (48), was trying to rescue Umaru when he also got electrocuted.
The police spokesman in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said that the case was reported at the Lion Building Division of the command on Saturday by another staff of the company from the Lagos Island District.
He said, “Based on the report, a team of detectives visited and photographed the scene. The victims were rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital where they were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
“Their corpses were evacuated and deposited at the IDH Morgue, Yaba, for autopsy. Meanwhile, investigation is in progress.”
