23 Suspected Yahoo Boys Caught in Sokoto
Category: Cyber-Crime News
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Sokoto State Command, have arrested 23 suspected Internet fraudsters, aka Yahoo boys, on Bafarawa Estate in the Sokoto metropolis.
A source said apart from Bafarawa Estate, the Kalkalawa area of Sokoto was also raided after “intelligence-driven observations along with intensive close monitoring” proved that the young men were living above their means with no genuine source of income.
This, according to the source, led operatives of the commission to arrest them while investigations continued.
Some of the items recovered from the suspects included a red Toyota Corolla 2009, a white Toyota Corolla 2015, 16 different laptops, one generator, 30 different phones, and two MTN routers.
The source revealed that they would be charged at the conclusion of investigations.
