Man Kills 2-Year-Old Daughter, After Wife Dumped Her With Him At 'Burukutu' Joint

A man, Ayuba Danbaki, has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly killing his two-year-old daughter and burying her in a shallow grave.

Ayuba Danbaki, 35, and resident of Rigi, a community in Ga’anda District, Gombi LGA, allegedly murdered his daughter after her mother took her to him at a local joint.

The mother of the baby, Shiyona Ali, allegedly dumped the baby on the father at the local joint in the community where he was drinking beer, on the fateful night of the incident because she had become tired of her upkeep.

Witnesses said that Danbaki, who was angry with the action of his former wife and mother of the baby, took the baby into the bush, killed her by tying her neck with a rope, and then buried her.

The baby’s mother, 30-year-old Shiyona Ali reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the suspect who led the police to where he buried the baby.

Confessing the crime at the Police Headquarters in Yola, the suspect said he was livid at how the mother of the baby dumped her on him at a local joint.

“I used a rope and tied her neck, dug a grave and buried her. I am married and blessed with six children, including the deceased. I became angry with her mother’s action. It was a mistake,” he said.

He said he must have acted under the influence of the local beer, burukutu, that he took.

Insisting that he had fully realized the folly of indulging in alcohol, Dambaki said, “In fact, a drunk man sometimes defecate in his trousers, vomit or fall on the ground. It makes you to do something and later regret it.”

The state Police image maker, SP Suleiman Nguroje said Wednesday that the Commissioner of Police, CP Babatola Afolabi, had ordered that the matter be transferred to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the command for proper investigation.
