Anger Management In The Biblical Ways
"As the churning of cream yields butter, and a blow to the nose causes
bleeding, so anger causes quarrels." Proverbs 30:33
"Anger causes quarrels." Sounds pretty obvious doesn't it. It ain't "rocket
surgery". Some people just seem ready for a fight. The anger is out of
control. Oh, it may not be a kick the dog/ throw things kind of anger issue.
It could be a much "slower burn". But either way, it's an unhealthy posture of
the heart.
Anger needs to come under the subjection of Christ. If this doesn't
happen, you end up with a quarrelsome person. No one "plans" to turn out this
way, it's a result of undisciplined thought and undisciplined emotion. Did you
know that Anger usually stems from the feeling that someone "owes" you
something?
That usually begins with prideful thinking and can build into full blown
bitterness. If that's how we pattern our thinking, we are destined for
quarrels at every turn. We need to combat that with praise.
Today's Psalm says, "Praise the Lord! Yes, really praise Him! I will praise
him as long as i live, yes, even with my dying breath." Psalm 146:1
You wanna beat the anger issue? Combat it with praise! Praising the Lord puts
us in proper relationship with him. Our anger can't survive. If you have
problems with anger, what is it that is really pushing your buttons?
Look at Psalm 146:5-10:
"But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope
is in the Lord their God. He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in
them. He keeps every promise forever. He gives justice to the oppressed and
food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners. The Lord opens the eyes of
the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down. The Lord loves the
godly. The Lord protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and
widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked. The Lord will reign
forever. He will be your God, O Jerusalem, throughout the generations. Praise
the Lord!"
When you read that, how could we leave room for anger to enter in and wreak
havoc? It's amazing how living the Dynamic Lifestyle of Worship improves the
Relationships Devoted to Unity!
Praise the Lord!
Through the Power of the Spirit, Live the DREAM!
