Kano Assembly Suspends Council Chairman For ‘Selling Government Properties‘

The Kano State House of Assembly yesterday suspended the Chairman of Gwale Local Government council, Khalid Ishaq Diso for allegedly selling government properties.
Diso, who was accused by his councilors, is to serve the punishment for three months.
The Assembly directed the Vice Chairman to take over the affairs of the council, pending the outcome of the investigation.
Disk’s suspension was announced by the lawmakers after deliberations on the floor of the House.
House standing committee on local governments and chieftaincy affairs presented the report during a plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Alhaji Isma’il Jibril Falgore.
Alhaji Hamza Zubairu Massu explained that the committee had carefully scrutinized the allegations contained in the petition by six of the 10 Gwale councilors.
The allegations against the suspended chairman include illegal selling of government properties and taking decisions without consultations.
