The Third Mainland Bridge will be shut to motorists to allow the commencement of remedial repair on bad portions of the bridge, the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has announced.
The repair to be carried out through the Lagos Public Works Corporation, LPWC, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Works, will see the bridge closed for two consecutive Sundays, September 17 and 24 between the hours of 7.00 am and 7.00 pm each Sunday.
Confirming the planned rehabilitation, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Abdulhafiz Toriola on Thursday said traffic would be diverted during the repair to ensure early completion.
“The proposed works will be strictly executed in two phases with phase one focusing on only the most critical sections on the Iyana-Oworonsoki inward Adeniji Adele/Lagos Island,” he said.
