The National/State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, has declared Simon Lalong of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the duly elected Senator to represent Plateau South senatorial district of the State in the February 25 elections.
According to the Tribunal, the votes scored by Napoleon Bali of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25, 2023 general election were wasted votes as he was invalidly nominated by his political party for the election.
It said that as at the time of the nomination, the PDP had no valid structure in the State.
Lalong, who is the immediate-past governor of the State, is currently serving as the Minister of Labour and Employment.
