Adam The First Man

Category: Great Bible Leaders

Adam was the first man created by God about 6000 years ago on the sixth day of God’s creation.

The universe and animals had first been created by God before He made Adam from the dust of the ground.

Adam was the one that named the animals and also his wife who was created by God using one of Adam’s ribs.

God placed Adam in charge of the Garden of Eden where he farmed the land and watched over the place as instructed by God.

However, God instructed Adam and his wife, Eve not to eat from a certain tree in the garden, “Tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”

Sometime during the cause of history Adam ate from this tree that God had instructed that they should not. He was misled to eating it by his wife Eve who was deceived by the serpent, an animal slayer than every beast of the field.

After eating the fruit Adam and his wife became aware of their nakedness and hid themselves so that God would not see them.
God was angry on realizing that they had eaten from the tree he had instructed them not to. He placed some curses on them and banished them from the Garden of Eden.

Man was supposed to live with ease but since the day Adam disobeyed God and God placed a curse on him, man began to toil to eat and to live.

The woman was not spared either, God cursed her, and she was to go through a painful process of childbearing before. After God had finished cursing them, He sent them out of the Garden forever!

Adam was the father of Cain, Abel and Seth. He also had other daughters. He lived for 930 years before he died.
