Gunmen Abduct Cleric, Others Conveying Corpse in Kogi

Some kidnappers have kidnapped an Islamic cleric, Alfa Fasasi Ola Mejabi and his younger brother while conveying a corpse in Kogi state.

The cleric and others were conveying the corpse of the late Chief Imam of Ayegunle Gbede, Sheikh Musa Olorunkemi, from Lokoja on Sunday to Ayegunle Gbede in Ijumu local government area of the state for burial when they ran into the kidnappers.

One of the occupants of the car who escaped abduction disclosed that the incident occurred just Oshokoshoko, along the Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road.

A source disclosed further that the victims’ telephone lines have been switched off since their abductors but added that the kidnappers made contact with the family on Monday morning demanding 10-million-naira ransom for their release.
