3 Arrested For Allegedly Falsifying Nigeria Police Character Certificate

The Nigeria Police Force announces the apprehension of three individuals believed to be part of a syndicate engaged in forgery, extortion, and the counterfeit production of Nigeria Police Character Certificates.

On Tuesday, ASP Aminat Mayegun, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Criminal Investigation Department in Alagbon, Lagos, confirmed the arrest as she presented the suspects in Ikoyi.

Mayegun revealed that a targeted sting operation was initiated on November 16, 2023, to dismantle the criminal network.

She highlighted the necessity of the special operation after receiving a report from an innocent victim. The victim had unknowingly submitted a forged document while applying for a Visa at the U.K Embassy, resulting in the denial of the visa and a 10-year ban from entering the country.

The spokesperson mentioned the apprehension of three suspects: Chinedu Agbosim, the owner of the shop and the main culprit; Mariam Dauda and Ebighose Anderson, computer operators recruited by Chinedu.

"All suspects confessed to their individual and collective roles in producing fake Police Character Certificates at a side shop near the Federal Training Center, Ikoyi, Lagos. Upon executing a search warrant at the shop, the following items were recovered: Three counterfeit Police Character Certificates, various documents belonging to Nigerian citizens, a computer-generated signature specimen under the name of CP CCR, CP Olaolu Adegbite (dated November 16, 2023), and a computer-generated document featuring the superimposed signature of CP Ndu, I.M., the former CCR, CP Ndu I.M, along with a desktop computer," she explained.

Mayegun confirmed that the suspects would face charges in court in the near future.
