Presidency Denies Rumors of FCT Relocation to Lagos
The Presidency clarified that the administration led by Bola Tinubu has no intention of relocating the Federal Capital of Nigeria back to Lagos, dismissing such suggestions as the work of "mischief-makers" aiming to provoke unwarranted ethnic mistrust.
Following the recent decision by the Federal Government to relocate the Department of Banking Supervision of the Central Bank of Nigeria to Lagos and the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development's directive to move the head office of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria back to Lagos, the Presidency, through a statement signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, refuted claims that these actions were part of a plan to relocate the Federal Capital Territory to Lagos. Ngelale emphasized that there is no truth to the interpretations and unfounded rumors circulating about President Bola Tinubu's alleged intention to move the Federal Capital back to Lagos.
