Hey Stop! Don’t Revenge!

The Lord says, 'Vengeance is mine.' Many of us feel the urge to seek revenge against those who have wronged us, but God instructs us not to retaliate. I won't pretend to be a hypocrite; there have been times when I've wanted to seek revenge desperately. The pain inflicted upon us can be so deep that retaliation seems justified.

Revenge can take various forms. It's the act of punishing someone who has harmed or offended us. For example, if someone slaps you, revenge doesn't necessarily mean slapping them back or involving the authorities. It could be as simple as cutting off communication with them, thereby hurting them emotionally in return.

When we're cheated or embarrassed, revenge often becomes our first impulse. We want to divert attention away from our humiliation. However, seeking revenge can lead to further complications and escalate the situation.

I once had a neighbor who maliciously cut off my water supply, leading to inconvenience and financial loss. Despite being tempted to retaliate, I chose to leave the situation in God's hands. Instead of taking matters into my own hands, I trusted that divine justice would prevail.

Taking revenge on your own can backfire and worsen the situation. By letting God handle it, you allow for a resolution that may surprise even the offender. As Jesus taught in Matthew 5:38-39, we should not resist evil but rather turn the other cheek. This doesn't mean accepting abuse but rather allowing God to intervene on our behalf.

Whether it's dealing with an oppressive boss or a personal conflict, refraining from seeking revenge can lead to unexpected outcomes. So, before you act out of vengeance, consider the potential consequences and trust in God's justice.

May you find peace and avoid trouble today.

God bless you!"
